foundations - stay secure
As mums and internet users ourselves, we know how important it is for you to feel safe and comfortable using mummo. That’s why we’ve taken great care to ensure that the website is designed in a way that prioritises your privacy and security. Here are just a few examples of how you are protected:
- no-one can participate in mummo without being registered as a member, which means that we can track activity if we need to and make sure that anyone who does anything inappropriate is immediately barred from using the site
- you have control over who views your information - for example, you can set access controls to limit the people who see your profile, blog, photos and so on
- wherever possible, we’ll prevent you from entering information that could be used to identify or harass you - for example, we’ll make sure that you can’t inadvertently enter your telephone number when posting classified adverts on the mummo noticeboards
- our payment process is fully secure to the highest standards, using 128-bit encryption
- we only ask for your personal information once, for administration purposes, and keep it securely according to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 - take a look at our privacy policy for reassurance
Tips for your own security
- it may sound obvious but never post your full name, address, phone number, National Insurance number, bank or credit card account numbers in an open online forum, and don’t post anyone else’s personal information either
- think about the information you do post and be cautious about posting details that could be used to identify you or locate you offline - for example, where you work
- in short, only post information that you are comfortable with others seeing - and knowing - about you
- consider controlling access to any photographs of you or your children (for example, you may want these to be visible only to your friends and/or members of groups to which you belong)
- think carefully before you decide to meet up with someone in person and, initially, arrange to meet them in a public place during the daytime
We really hope you enjoy using Mummo and have complete peace of mind about your security. If you would like any further information or reassurance, please just contact us by email, phone or post.
