Once you’re signed up as a mummo member, you can take advantage of the website to:
- place classified advertising for personal purposes
- advertise your business or professional skills / services
- place recruitment advertising where you have a genuinely flexible, family-friendly work opportunity to offer

Why here?
There are lots of websites where you can place classified advertising. The beauty of mummo, quite apart from the fact that it’s free, is that:
- you know you are reaching an audience of other mums just like you
- you can feel comfortable in the knowledge that you’re safe, as people can only respond to your advert via mummo (none of your personal information is made public)
- you can target mums across the UK, in your own geographical area, in a particular mummo community or who share a specific interest ... meaning that you’re much more likely to get the kind of response you’re looking for
What can you advertise?
You can place as many classified ads as you want, for free, on any of the main noticeboards:
- mind and body - for example, to find an exercise buddy
- family and home - for example, to find childcare or help with the housework
- career and business - for example, to request work wanted
- friends and fun - for example, to meet other mums and make friends
- community and contribution - for example, to publicise a charity fundraising initiative
- prosperity - for example, to buy, sell, borrow and recycle goods
Alternatively, you may prefer to pay a small amount for a premium ad. This will help to draw extra attention to your ad and ensure that it appears towards the top of any search results.
In addition, if you belong to any mummo groups, you can also place classified ads on the noticeboard(s) for those groups. That way, you can target your ad even more carefully.

Why here?
By advertising in the mummo marketplace, you will reach an audience of other mums who are already ‘warm’ towards you and want to support you, not least because they know what it’s like to juggle work and family demands. Whilst they may not always need your products / services themselves, chances are that they’ll know someone who does! And, let’s face it, in many households women either “hold the purse strings” or have a great deal of influence over their partner’s spending. Not to mention the fact that we often have suberb social networks and are really generous in supporting each other and sharing information. (Just not quite as good at sharing chocolate!)
In time, as the mummo website grows and becomes more and more successful, the hope is that the Marketplace will become first port of call for anyone who wants to find a mum in business.
What can you advertise?
Because we offer preferential advertising rates for mummo members, you can only advertise your own business(es) or professional services, no-one else’s. We do accept advertising from non-members, where appropriate, but it’s handled differently. So, for example, if your husband wanted to advertise his business on mummo, he would need to refer to the section ‘if you’re not a mum ...’ at the bottom of this page and contact us himself.
As a mummo member, you get the benefit of a free marketplace advert for three months, so that you can see how well it works for you. You will need to start paying for your ad after this trial period ... but even a premium ad costs less than a weekly coffee and cake, and in most cases you should be able to claim the payment as a valid business expense.

Why here?
Many people believe that mums make particularly good employees / service providers. Of course we’d be inclined to agree. Amongst other things, most mums have learnt how to organise, prioritise, multi-task and achieve maximum positive results in minimum time! In addition, as long as we’re treated well, we’re likely to be supremely loyal and committed. And that’s not to mention the wealth of skills, talents and experience we’ve often acquired in our time Before Children ... and the ones we’ve gained through having them!
As a mummo member, you’ll know that by advertising a family-friendly work opportunity on the mummo website, you’ll be reaching a target audience of mums who are looking for exactly that. So your advertising is focused on just the kind of candidates you want. And, what’s more, as part of our drive to promote the creation of flexible, family-friendly work opportunities, you can have your first three recruitment ads for free!
What can you advertise?
You can advertise any work or business opportunity that you consider to be genuinely family-friendly. This doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be part-time, but if it’s full-time there must be flexibility in the way it’s carried out - for example, working from home. And, wherever possible, we’d encourage you to keep an open mind about when and how the work is actually done and focus instead on the results that you want the successful candidate to achieve.
You can place recruitment adverts on any of the following boards:
- employment opportunities
- freelance opportunities (for example, short-term projects suitable for self-employed mums)
- business opportunities (for example, new franchise openings available)
- volunteering opportunities (ie. unpaid work that offers some kind of valuable learning experience)
